The single originally went on sale in May 1982.

The release was accompanied by a new collection of songs from the group's films, hence the his name - REEL MUSIC.

Excerpts from seven of the group's songs from their films were spliced together to create the first 'new' Beatles single in more than 3 years, which was released in the USA in March 1982. Surprisingly, though, in spite of the fact that many of the shifts between the songs were rather abrupt and amateurishly edited, and the fact that some of the songs were actually speeded up electronically, the US publ's apparent hunger for any Beatles product more than a dozen years after the break up was evident by this 45 rpm almost cracking the Top Ten in the USA.

The release was accompanied by a new compilation album themed around songs from the group's films, hence the title REEL MUSIC.

EMI, who had apparently earlier furiously opposed the release of this 45, regarding it as tacky, was forced to release it given the threat of an influx of imported copies of the US 45. It peaked at # 10 in the UK charts.

Then at the end of the year he joined the box set The Beatles Singles Collection (BSC 1).

Епізоди з семи пісень гурту з їхніх фільмів були об'єднані воєдино, щоб створити перший за більш ніж 3 роки "новий" синґл Бітлз, який вийшов у США у березні 1982 року.
